Granite Construction honored by NAPA
The National Asphalt Pavement Association has named Granite Construction Co.
a recipient of the 2003 Community Involvement Award for its work on the Big Dig, a northern Nevada fundraising event to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Granite will be presented with the award at NAPA’s 49th Annual Convention in Phoenix on Jan.
Granite will also receive the Bronze Medallion Award from the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association .
Each year, the Big Dig raises approximately $50,000 to help give children with cancer the opportunity to attend camps and participate in medical research programs.
Children from around the community are invited to participate in the day-long event, which gives them the opportunity to operate heavy construction equipment including bulldozers, front-end loaders, cranes, dump trucks and excavators.
Granite provides financial support to the event including as well as volunteers, heavy equipment and the location for the event.
Officials with Fuentes Restaurant and Cantina, Axle Crossfit, Gather, Loved Momma Fitness, Rowdy Bar and Silver Strike Crossfit discuss challenges — and opportunities — due to the pandemic.
