Northern Nevada nursing homes recognized
Two nursing homes in Reno and one in Carson City were honored with the HealthInsight Quality Awards.
Rosewood Rehabilitation Center and Life Care Center of Reno, both in Reno, and Carson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center were honored with the awards for demonstrating excellence in providing quality health care. The awards were presented by HealthInsight, a nonprofit, community-based health care collaborative working to improve health and health care for patients and providers.
The nursing homes along with two others in Southern Nevada, were recognized at the Nevada Health Care Association Annual Convention at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe on Sept. 18.
In order to meet criteria for this Quality Award, nursing homes had to rank in the top 25 percent of performers in the nation, based on MDS 3.0 Quality Measures from Nursing Home Compare, as well as demonstrate a successfully implemented quality improvement program in their facilities.
“The thing that I like most about entrepreneurship is I can work toward something that I’m passionate about and be at the forefront of the change that I want to see happen,” said Priyanka Senthil, a senior at Davidson Academy in Reno and co-founder of startup company AUesome.
