Orthopedic generics studied
A study conducted by the University of Nevada School of Medicine and the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic on the use of generic implants in orthopedic surgery found savings could total 73 percent compared with branded implants.
The study of 79 surgery patients at Renown Regional Medical Center used orthopedic screws developed by The Orthpaedic Implant Company of Reno. The study was presented at the 28th Annual Orthopaedic Trauma Association meeting in Minneapolis.
