State’s safest mines honored

Nevada’s safest mining operations and

employees were honored by the Nevada

Mining Association at its annual convention

this month.

A total of 27 mines were recognized for

their safety efforts. The first-place mines


* Small open pit mines: Ruby Hill Mine

* Large open pit mines: Goldstrike Mine

* Metal underground: Lee Smith Mine –

* Mary Going Memorial Award for most

improved: Deep Star – Newmont
