Western Police and Fire games seeks sponsors
Organizers of the Western State Police & Fire games, which will debut in the Reno/ Sparks area next July, are in the process of contacting local companies and businesses to become sponsors for the games.
Local active duty and retired police and fire personnel, who are organizing the games, formerly known as the California Police and Fire games, anticipate about 12,000 attendees, including athletes, co-workers, family members and other supporters at the newly organized fundraiser.
The games will take place at various local locations and will include about 68 different sporting events.
Local venues for the games’ first year in Nevada range from angling on the Truckee River to bicycle events on local routes, to golf on northern Nevada courses, to kayak competitions in Reno’s new downtown whitewater kayak park.
Other venues reach into the Lake Tahoe Basin, Carson City and Fernley.
Competing will be active duty and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel from California, Arizona,Hawaii, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon,Utah, and Washington, as well as other states.
