Pitch Perfect: Developing Effective Elevator Pitches to Build Relationships
It is important to have an elevator pitch in the business world. But is yours effective? Join us for a complimentary breakfast and an interactive presentation where The College of Business’ Jim McClenahan will present tips and strategies to polish an elevator pitch. McClenahan will guide attendees on how to develop their own individual pitches as well as highlight some of the best technology to help bring your networking skills to the next level.
The event will also provide networking opportunities for both employers and students from The College of Business.

About the speaker:
Jim McClenahan’s mission is to link the University of Nevada, Reno College of Business’s most valuable asset – its students – with companies that will benefit from their skills and talent. As the college’s director of corporate relations and outreach, McClenahan is responsible for connecting students to businesses through community events, internships, mentorships and providing contacts for career opportunities. He is also responsible for recruitment of new graduate students to the College of Business and for administering the college’s Corporate Partners program. McClenahan also teaches marketing in The College of Business and runs the Nevada Global Business Program, designed to give graduate and undergraduate students short, experiential, international course experience. McClenahan holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Nevada, Reno and bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. McClenahan recently finished his term as the past chairman of the board for The Chamber. He currently serves on the board of directors for United Federal Credit Union and Junior Achievement. He also serves The Chamber board as liaison between the Chamber and the University. McClenahan is president of the Pastoral Council at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. McClenahan previously served on the boards of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada, Western Industrial Nevada, Schools to Careers Committee and the Latino Education Foundation. He and his wife Karen have lived in Reno for the last 17 years and enjoy all the outdoor activities the Truckee Meadows has available.
