On Nov. 3, 1965, the First Baptist Church of Carson City exploded into ruins. The disaster was blamed on leaking gas from a pipeline. No one was in the building. Pictured the new pastor, Alfred Engelmann, right, looks over plans for a new church with Norman Poteet, chairman of the finance committee at the new site on Mountain Street.
