Letter: Double-standard in criticism of opponent

This letter is in response to Rita Carman's letter, published on Oct. 31. Ms. Carman accuses the Appeal of "using a nonprofit group's fund-raising event" in a "smear campaign" against Mayor Masayko.

Isn't Ms. Carman setting a double-standard? Ms. Carman submitted her letter as a "Charter President," not as a citizen of Carson City. In her letter, as Charter President, she not only speaks highly of the current mayor, but starts her own "smear campaign" against Tom Tatro, stating that "he doesn't do that sort of thing. I guess he doesn't do a lot of things," because he (Tatro) wasn't able to participate in a fund-raiser (at least according to Ms. Carman.)

Ms. Carman, are you expressing your opinion against what the Appeal did as a citizen, or are you setting a double-standard and using your position as a Charter President of a non-profit to start your own "smear campaign," as you have accused the Nevada Appeal of doing?
