Letter: Veterans Day gets a patriotic salute

At the Carson Plaza where I have resided four years, we remembered Veterans Day on Friday, the 10th of November. Many of our residents gathered in our lobby as it was too difficult meeting around our flagpole where the snow covered the ground.

There were many veterans of the past wars attending. Our resident Don Brooks, also a past veteran, played his trumpet and there were several military and patriotic renditions and we joined in the singing. Robert Rethford, one of the Plaza managers, gave a very interesting and poignant reading.

Our "sing along" group sang some of the old nostalgic songs and we all had that great feeling that music seems to instill in our souls. The occasion honored those loved ones we lost, but for a short time we were able to again experience their sacrifice and the love that never dies!
