Man accused of break-in pleads innocent

A man accused of breaking down the door to his estranged wife's home, pushing her and punching another man will go to trial.

Dwan Todd Earl, a 38-year-old Las Vegas man, faces a maximum of 10 years in prison for the alleged assault. He pleaded innocent in district court Monday and is scheduled for a Nov. 15 trial.

He was arrested July 30 on suspicion of domestic battery, violation of a restraining order and battery, but the charges were later amended to add burglary.

Earl has been in custody for more than a month awaiting trial. Through attorney Mike Roth he asked for a reduction of bail. In the end Maddox agreed to lower the bail from $125,000 to $25,000.

A criminal record spotted with arrests and convictions for assaults, burglaries and drug and weapons possession prevented Earl's release while he awaits trial.

"We consider him very much a threat to (his wife)," said prosecutor Anne Langer.
