A San Fransisco resident found dead Sunday morning pinned underneath his car down a steep embankment on Pioneer Trail near Black Bart Avenue has been identifed by El Dorado County Sheriff's Department as Vincent Milani.
Det. Tom Hill, who spoke to the man's parents, said he was told that Milani did like to frequent casinos on South Shore.
Sunday a deputy found $381 in Milani's pant's pocket.
The 29-year-old was driving at high speeds in a green Honda CRX sometime Saturday night when he drifted off road and collided with several pine trees, California Highway Patrol reported.
A woman who was biking in the area discovered the accident and used her cell phone to notifiy police.
"There were no skid marks," said California Highway Patrol Sgt. Bob Jones. "The driver's seat is broken and that typically means there was impact on the driver. Either he was being inattentive or he fell asleep or maybe he was under the inflence of alcohol."
The car hit three trees, knocking the top section of one tree off and snapping another tree in half. The Honda, which had its roof ripped off by one of the trees, came to rest against another pine 47 feet from the road.
Blood tests to determine whether Milani was under the influence of drugs or alcohol are expected to be completed in about a month. "I didn't smell any alcohol on his breath," said El Dorado Sheriff's Deputy Jerry Murphy, acting coroner at the scene. "There's no reason to suspect drug or alcohol use."
