Obituary: Allene M. Rooke

Services for Allene M. Rooke, 69, a Carson City resident, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace-St. Francis Community Church in Lovelock with Father Crites officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the Lovelock Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rooke died Oct. 7, 2000 at her home. She was born April 25, 1931, in Lovelock, to Lena Snodgrass and Bill Rooke, and is a member of the Lovelock Paiute Tribe.

She graduated from Pershing County High School in 1949, went to Sage Memorial Hospital in Grando, Ariz., for two years and received a nursing degree from St. Marks Hospital at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.

After working for five years at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Bonair, Los Angeles, she moved to Carson City.

After 23 years of service, she retired from Carson-Tahoe Hospital where she had been operating room manager and central service manager. She was a Christian.

Among her survivors are her mother of Lovelock; sons Jeff and Greg Thurman and granddaughters Crystal and Kendra, all of Carson City; and numerous relatives.

Burial will be at the Lovelock Indian Cemetery.
