Obituary: J. Bud Hurin

A memorial service for J. Bud Hurin, 75, a Carson City resident for the past 38 years, will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

Mr. Hurin died July 2, 2000 at his home. He was born March 12, 1925, in Minnesota, to Chester E. and Rose Bernice Hayes Embree.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Hawthorne.

Mr. Hurin was a teacher in Hawthorne and at Stewart Indian School in Carson City. He also coached basketball, football, baseball and track. He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a South Pacific combat veteran.

Among his survivors are his sons Alexander Hurin of North Carolina and Jude Hurin and Patrick Tobey, both of Carson City; brothers, Gene of Wisconsin and Bob of Illinois; sister Virginia of St. Louis and four grandchildren.

Inurnment will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Cremation will be at Walton's Carson Sierra Crematory.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
