Rim trail workers plan "fun work day"

Volunteers working on the Tahoe Rim Trail have planned a "fun work day" for Oct. 14 to celebrate the efforts that have gone into the trail this season.

Tools, instruction and lunch will be provided by the Tahoe Rim Trail Association. Volunteers should meet at 8 a.m. at the intersection of Incline Lake Road and Mount Rose Highway. They should wear long pants (jeans are best), long sleeves, sturdy boots and bring work gloves, extra layers, sunglasses, and at least two quarts of water. Call at (775) 588-0686 or e-mail at tahoerimtrail@aol.com by Friday.

Jeffrey Schaffer, author of "The Tahoe Sierra," a popular guidebook, will be signing books. Forty percent of each book sold will go to the Tahoe Rim Trail.

The loop trail is targeted to be completed by next September. To reach that goal, hundreds of volunteers are needed.
