Three arrested in prostitution sting at Lake Tahoe

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Three people have been arrested in a prostitution sting in Incline Village and Crystal Bay on Lake Tahoe's north shore.

The operation involving the Washoe County and Placer County, Calif., sheriff's departments and Reno police was initiated after officers learned Nevada brothels were transporting female employees to customers at the lake, investigators said.

During the sting, two detectives posing as ''Johns'' contacted a brothel and asked that women be brought to them at a vacation rental.

Authorities said when the women arrived they offered sex for money.

Rosa Herrera, 26, of Carson City and Mari Janette Courtney, 19, of Virginia City were arrested Friday and charged with soliciting prostitution.

Authorities said the women were driven to the lake by Rex Lee Stailey.

Stailey, 31, of Carson City, was charged with one count of pandering and one count of furnishing prostitution.

The Washoe County sheriff's office said additional sting operations are planned.
