Wells Fargo hosts fraud prevention program on Friday

Wells Fargo Bank is hosting fraud prevention seminars Friday in Reno. Both seminars feature Frank Abagnale, an internationally recognized authority on fraud and the subject of the best-selling book, "Catch Me If You Can."

Abagnale is currently considered an expert on the subjects of forgery, embezzlement, check fraud and secure documents. He is an extensive lecturer at the FBI Academy and its many field offices.

Abagnale's knowledge and expertise began many years ago when he cashed more than $2.5 million in fraudulent checks in every state and 26 foreign countries in a five-year period. He also successfully posed as a pilot, an assistant attorney general, a college professor and a pediatrician until the French police arrested him. Abagnale spent five years in French, Swedish and U.S. prisons before he was released on the condition he would help the government, without remuneration, write policies and procedures to curtail white-collar crime.

The seminars include the latest information on protection from forgery, check fraud and other high-tech fraud. Abagnale also discusses statistics of fraud instances and methods of measuring fraud.
