Bike path won't be direct route they want

As usual, true to his "progressive" (read socialist) self, Jeff Ackerman wants a bike path built as part of a freeway bypass. What argues most against such a scheme is that the bypass corridor is not a natural one, it is putting something where nothing is now, because we can't put it along Carson Street.

If you ride a bike for transportation, however, you ride the shortest way; in short, you ride directly to where you are going, and you do care if the route would take you out of your way.

Finally, I do not believe that building the bike path is appropriate for funding that comes from gasoline taxes. Not many bicycles buy gasoline, Jeff.
