TRUCKEE - During his arraignment on June 13 at the Nevada County Superior Court House in Truckee, Ronald Blamey pleaded not guilty to charges that he murdered his wife.
Blamey, a 63-year-old Truckee contractor, allegedly killed his wife, Michiel, on March 27, according to Deputy District Attorney Fred Holmes.
At the arraignment on June 13 a conference date of July 6 was set. According to Holmes, a date for the trial will be established at the conference.
"It might be established in sand, but it'll be established," Holmes said of the trial date.
Michiel Blamey, 52, was reported missing when she failed to report to her California Department of Justice job in Sacramento on the morning of March 27. Blamey went to a Reno attorney's office and disclosed the location of his wife's body two days later.
Blamey was arrested for the murder and then released on $500,000 bail. Currently he is living with his son in Seattle.
Michiel's body was recovered from a field near the town of Sheridan, Calif.
An autopsy later revealed the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head, according to Holmes. A steam iron and large rock, both found in the back of Blamey's truck, have been entered into evidence as the murder weapons. Both items were stained with what is believed to be the victim's blood.
Blamey's fingerprints were also found on the items, said authorities. DNA tests on the blood stains are still not complete.
