CHS principal Glen Adair undergoes quadruple bypass surgery

Carson High School Principal Glen Adair was listed in stable condition at Washoe Medical Center in Reno after undergoing quadruple-bypass surgery Friday morning.

"He is doing well," said Superintendent Jim Parry.

Parry said he expects Adair to remain in the hospital for a week, then recuperate at home for six to eight weeks.

During his absence, Parry said, Vice Principal Harvie Walker will act as principal and Dean Fred Perdomo will act as vice principal.

"We will also be adding help to the administration team by taking one teacher out of the classroom to act as an administrator," Parry said.

The teacher has not yet been named.

Parry said that although it is a serious condition, Adair caught it quickly, minimizing the danger.

"We feel that he was one of those lucky people who had some chest pains and he attended to it," Parry said.

Adair has served as principal of CHS since August 1992.
