WASHINGTON - Graco Children's Products Inc. recalled 31,000 walkers for repair Wednesday because they can collapse and injure infants, said the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The ''Tot Wheels Entertainer Activity Center with Bounce'' walkers were sold nationwide by mass merchandise, juvenile, toy and major department stores from September 1999 through February 2000 for about $50.
Elverson, Penn.-based Graco has received 27 reports of walkers collapsing. The commission said injuries to infants included bumps, bruises, cuts and strains.
The walkers have a five-position head adjustment, and model numbers 4032LN or 4032BLA, underneath the front of the walker's removable green tray. ''Graco Lights & Sounds'' is written on the tray which has 12 activities, including a steering wheel, ball spinner and flashing lights. The multicolor walkers have an animal print fabric seat.
Consumers should stop using these walkers and call Graco for a free repair kit, which includes a replacement tray, at (800) 345-4109 anytime.
