Deputies net suspected drug courier

A car chase that began near Roop Street in north Carson City ended in the arrested of a local man on drug charges.

Felix Diaz-Ozana of Carson City was arrested at around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday after leading officers on a three-minute chase that ended across from a day care center at the corner of Roop and Dan streets.

During the chase, Dizaz-Ozana threw two bindles of suspected methamphetamine from the window of an Oldsmobile Cutlass.

The drugs, weighing approximately 18 grams, were confiscated, said Carson Sheriffs Sgt. Steve Schuette.

Diaz-Ozana was booked at the Carson City Jail on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, reckless driving, failure to yield and driving without a license. Bail has been set at $40,000.

Also confiscated was an undetermined amount of cash and three telephone pagers.

Officers began tailing Diaz-Ozana after noticing an expired registration on the car's plates. When officers signaled Diaz-Ozana to pull over, he continued to drive, and, at one point, began throwing bindles of the suspected drugs out of the car window.

"This may lead to something bigger," Carson Deputy Mike Cullen said of the suspect's drug connections and his pagers at the time of the arrest. "This stuff has been snowballing from other stuff."
