Entertainer Bob Hope hospitalized

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Entertainer Bob Hope was hospitalized in stable condition Thursday after complaining of stomach problems.

Hope, 97, ''woke up this morning complaining of a lower intestinal problem,'' and was admitted to Eisenhower Medical Center, spokesman Ward Grant said. Hope was resting comfortably, and his wife, Dolores, and daughter Linda were with him, Grant said.

Hope returned to Palm Springs on Tuesday after a trip east to open the Bob Hope Gallery of the Library of Congress and to visit a friend in Maryland, where he went fishing and celebrated his 97th birthday Monday, Grant said.
