The Gardnerville Volunteer Fire Department will hold its third annual barbecue fund-raiser on Friday from 4 to 9 p.m., kicking off the Carson Valley Days weekend.
The motto for this year's event is "Burgers for Pride." A choice of a hamburger or cheeseburger, a bag of chips and either water or a soda will be available. The cost is $5 per person.
The department will sell tickets prior to the event. Each ticket purchased prior to 7 p.m. on June 7 will be entered in a drawing to win $100. The drawing will be held the night of the event on Friday at 7 p.m. One need not be present to win.
Members of the department will be going through the community selling tickets door to door the weekend prior to the event or tickets may be ordered by calling 782-2003 and leaving a message. Only 250 tickets will be eligible for the $100 drawing.
Proceeds from the event will be deposited into the general account and used toward improving the appearance of the fire department.
