LAS VEGAS - The slot machine jackpot winner who was seriously injured in a car accident will be transferred to a rehabilitation hospital in Denver on Wednesday.
Cynthia Jay-Brennan, who hit the world-record $35 million Megabucks slot jackpot in January, was injured March 11 when the car she was driving was rear-ended by an alleged drunken driver.
The accident killed Jay-Brennan's sister, Lela Anne Jay, 45, who was a passenger in the car.
Jay-Brennan has been in University Medical Center since the accident. The hospital confirmed that she would be transferred Wednesday to the private Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in Denver.
It was the patient's decision, a hospital spokesman said.
Craig Hospital, which has been named one of the top 10 rehabilitation hospitals in the nation by U.S. News and World Report magazine, specializes in spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury.
Jay-Brennan remained in serious condition Tuesday at UMC. Hospital officials have not disclosed the nature or extent of her injuries.
