Kruzers rock into Carson City

Former world speed record holder Craig Breedlove will be at the Karson Kruzers annual Run What Cha Brung car show this weekend.

"He'll have a booth set up for the whole weekend," organizer Lee Radtke. "He'll be selling T-shirts and signing model cars."

Breedlove will be back at Black Rock next spring in an effort to reclaim his crown.

Radtke said work on Costco will benefit the Kruzers this year.

"They are working real well with us not to disrupt the show," he said. "They are packing it all down and watering it to keep the dust down."

In addition to Breedlove, Radtke said Motorsports magazine owner Tom Gregg will attend the event, which attracts as many as 400 classic cars to Carson City.

"You don't normally get someone like this at a show," he said.

Kruzers President Jack Anderson said 387 cars are registered for the event.

"We're going to have about 385 cars once we find out who hasn't shown up," he said.

Breedlove is raising money for his run next spring, Anderson said.

Rather than seeking major sponsors, Breedlove is seeking public support for his next run.

"He's redesigned the car and it looks like he's got a good chance this time," Radtke, who went out to watch Breedlove race last time.

"My son and I went to all the racing Breedlove did at Black Rock," he said. "I talked to him about getting volunteers. We ended up just talking to people and talking up Carson City."

Radtke said that last year the event brought 280 cars and their owners from out of state.

"We expect more this year," Radtke said. "We've filled all the rooms in Carson City."

We've got some awesome trophies, the T-shirts are about the best to come about. This is going to be an awesome weekend."
