Lake Tahoe business owner, employee arrested on arson charges

KINGS BEACH, Calif. (AP) - A north Lake Tahoe business owner and his employee were arrested on charges of setting the business on fire to collect insurance money.

Lakeside Overhead Door Co. owner Kevin Francis O'Connor, 39, and Gregory Doble, 35, were booked Friday into the Placer County Jail in Auburn for investigation of conspiracy to commit arson.

The Kings Beach building was gutted and its contents were destroyed in the Tuesday night blaze. The company installs garage doors.

O'Connor also was arrested on an attempted murder charge. Investigators allege he booby-trapped the building to entrap Doble, who's accused of setting the business on fire after staging a burglary.

Doble was arrested Friday at U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento after being treated for serious burns to his face, hands and legs.

O'Connor, who was at the hospital to pick up Doble upon his release, was arrested at the same time.

Sheriff's arson detectives began an immediate investigation because of the suspicious nature of the fire.
