Man accused of raping teen girl

A 19-year-old Carson City laborer was arrested Monday morning after a 15-year-old girl charged that he had forced himself on her in his apartment.

Joseph T. Warhol, a Glendale, Calif., native who lives at 221 South Harbin St., is charged with sexually assaulting a minor and is being held on $50,000 bail.

The girl, who was being treated at Carson-Tahoe Hospital, told investigators that she and a friend had accompanied Warhol and another man on a day trip to Lake Tahoe on Sunday.

After a day on the beach, they reportedly returned to Carson City and Warhol and his friend began drinking. The victim said Warhol interrupted a conversation between her and a friend in a bedroom at the apartment, telling the other girl to leave.

The victim said she attempted to follow her friend out of the room, but that "Warhol stopped her and closed her inside the bedroom. Warhol pushed her down on the bed and told her to relax," according to the arrest report.

She told investigators he then undressed her and assaulted her before putting on a hat and leaving the room angrily.

After she contacted a friend for a ride home, the girl was taken to the hospital. By the time deputies arrived to take a report it was 3:40 a.m. Monday. The alleged assault occurred at midnight.

Deputies went to Warhol's apartment, placed him under arrest and took him to jail.
