Obituary: Carla E. Planeta

A funeral for Carla E. Planeta, 77, a Carson City resident for the past 21 years, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley with Father Paul McCollum officiating.

Visitation will be today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley following a Rosary at 5 p.m. with Sister Marie McGoin officiating.

Mrs. Planeta died June 10, 2000 in Reno. She was born April, 3, 1923, in Tuscany, Italy, to Guiseppe and Nella Fresce Cenderelli. She came to the United States in 1929 and was raised in New York.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Southern California.

Mrs. Planeta was a retired retail clerk and worked at Mervyn's Carson City. She enjoyed being with her family and cooking large Italian meals. She often vacationed near the beaches, usually Newport Beach in Southern California or on a cruise ship. She maintained friendships from long ago, keeping in contact with friends in New York. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles, in July 1999, grandchild Blythe and sister Mina Cenderelli.

Among her survivors are her daughters Carol Falk of Carson City and Rhonda Bavaro of Minden; sons, Rory of Gardnerville, Robert of Reno and William of Carson City and 15 grandchildren.

Burial will be at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
