Obituary: Hazel Elizabeth Foorman Vincis

A memorial service for Hazel Elizabeth Foorman Vincis, a Carson City resident for the past three years and 40-year Nevada resident, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Reno. Call 884-1720 for details.

Mrs. Vincis died March 19, 2000, in Carson City. She was born April 21, 1922, in Fresno, Calif., to Fredrick and Mary Berchuk Foorman.

She attended school at Bryte, Calif. Elementary School, Woodland, Calif. High School and Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore.

Mrs. Vincis retired in 1984 from Sierra News Inc. after 15 years of service. She volunteered with many organizations in Nevada, recataloging the medical library at the Reno Veterans Hospital, secretary-treasurer to the Reno Mity Mites Boxing Club for several years and working for the Reno Air Races, Nevada State Fair and volunteering at Community Emergency Food Services for six years. She was a member of the Reno RSVP and she was a Roman Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Nick, John, Andrew, Walter and James and sisters Nellie, Helen, Mary and Lucille.

Among her survivors are her sons, Duane of Las Vegas, Patrick of Quartzite, Ariz., William of Reno and Christopher of Carson City and six grandchildren.

Reno Memorial Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
