Obituary: Karl Elze

A memorial service for Karl H. Elze, 86, a Carson City resident for the past 25 years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the New Beginnings Christian Church, 145 Esmeralda Ave., Washoe Valley, with Pastor Jeff Watkins officiating.

Mr. Elze died Dec. 1, 1999, at his residence. He was born Aug. 30, 1913, in Westcliff, Colo., to Charles and Ida May Hansen Elze.

He married Judy Wiskerchen Sept. 9, 1989, in Carson City.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Carmichael, Calif.

Mr. Elze was a freelance mechanic and an inventor who held several patents. He was a member of the New Beginnings Christian Church. He enjoyed reading his Bible and also enjoyed a good day fishing at Topaz Lake.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a master sergeant during World War II (China, Burma and India) and flew 156 trips over the Burma Hump. He was an airplane mechanic in the Army Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Luella, in August 1988; son, Keith, in September 1994 and sister, Pearl Cirelli, in October 1996.

Among his survivors are his wife, Judy, of Carson City; brother, Walter, of Montclair, Calif.; grandsons, Karl Elze, of Tulare, Calif., and Keith Elze, of Lakeview, Ore.; great-grandsons, Karl Jr. and Kenny, both of Tulare and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be at Walton's Carson Sierra Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Beginnings Christian Church Building Development Fund, 145 Esmeralda Ave., Carson City 89704.

Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
