Obituary, Robert V. "Bud" Gill

A memorial service for Robert V. "Bud" Gill, 70, a Carson City resident for the past 14 years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.

Mr. Gill died May 8 at his home. He was born May 2, 1930, in Guthrie, Okla., to Lewis and Lillie Gill.

He graduated from Albuquerque High School and attended the University of New Mexico.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in the Reno/Sparks area for 14 years.

Mr. Gill was a pharmaceutical representative for E.R. Squibb & Sons from 1962-1991 and received many awards for outstanding performance in sales contests. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant during the Korean Conflict with Unit 14.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jack in 1972 and Bill in February 2000 and son, Bruce September 1999.

Among his survivors are his wife, Jane of Carson City and son, Glen of Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Memorial contributions may be made to the UC Foundation, University UCSD, 9500 Gilman Drive., LaJolla, Calif. 92093-0048 for the Bruce Gill Memorial Fund in memory of Robert V. Gill. This is a permanent endowment at the University of California, San Diego, that is awarded annually to a graduate student in the natural sciences investigating cancer-related subjects.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
