Parents, family seek community help in murder case

Two months after a murder in a field in east Carson City, the family members are pleading with the community.

Clint Martin Jacobo, 20, a Carson City resident for the past three years, his brother, Luis, 21, as well as two male cousins, aged 16 and 17, were wounded in the shootings Aug. 6 in a field east of the Pinon Plaza.

"We just want them caught," said Laura Noperi, Jacobo's cousin. "That way, the family and Clint can rest in peace."

Carson City Sheriff's Department investigators have been following up on leads, but have not found the two 16-year-olds who are suspected in the shooting.

Murder warrants were issued for Jorge E. Torres-Reyes and Usiel Mora both of Carson City.

Torres-Reyes is described as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 125 pounds, with shaved black hair and brown eyes.

Mora is 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs about 135 pounds and has shaved black hair and brown eyes.

"We're still looking for the two suspects, Mora and Torres-Reyes," said chief deputy Bernie Curtis. "We're asking for information concerning their whereabouts. They're are both wanted."

Despite efforts by the sheriff's department, Martina Fuentes, mother of two of the boys injured, and aunt of the Jacobo brothers, said more has to be done.

"I don't think the police are doing enough," she said in a phone interview Wednesday night. "We haven't seen any results."

Fuentes said that she has called investigators and gotten responses, but she said she feels that the department needs to do more.

Family members have offered a $5,000 reward, and Secret Witness has put up a $2,500 reward for information leading to the suspects.

Curtis said, "We're looking for them. Their whereabouts are the leads that we need. We have some leads that we're going to be trying, the case is solved as far as were concerned, we just need to make the arrest."

Anyone seeing one of the suspects should not approach him, but contact the Carson City Sheriff's Department at (775) 887-2020 ext. 1400, Secret Witness at (775) 322-4900 or the Secret Witness Hispanic hotline at (775) 721-7727. Callers to Secret Witness do not have to give a name in order to collect a reward.

Noperi said, "Whatever we can do to help them, that's why we're asking the media to update and show the pictures. To get people willing to speak. We don't know if their scared or what, we just want them to come forward."

She said she knows the sheriff's investigators have done all that they can to check out the leads they've had, but hopes continued publicity will stir someone's conscience to come forward.

Investigators arrested Korinna Francis Archuleta, 21, and Lorena Tello, 18, in connection with the shooting, and bail was set at $250,000. It was reduced to $10,000 each by Carson City Justice Court Judge John Tatro.

According to reports, the women picked up the suspects and hid them for the evening. Additionally, one of the women took some bullets from one of the suspects and disposed of them.

The two women have been released on bail.
