State library worker named Librarian of the Year

Sue Kendall of the Nevada state Library and Archives has been named Librarian of the Year.

She was picked for the honor for her work to establish the Nevada Newspaper cd-rom index, a consolidated, user-friendly index for searching Nevada's newspapers.

"She saw a need and acted on that need with a project that benefits all of Nevada," said Monteria Hightower, Nevada State Librarian.

She was assisted in the project by her late husband Tom in developing a product that Hightower said replaces a microfiche version that had little or no cross-referencing and was only updated infrequently.
