Two careflighted in Johnson Lane Collision

Two people were flown to Washoe Medical Center by helicopter ambulance after an early morning collision Saturday in Carson Valley.

Douglas County dispatch records show the two-vehicle collision at Johnson Lane and East Valley Road was reported at 12:14 a.m.

The Nevada Highway Patrol investigated the accident and few details were available Saturday.

Radio reports monitored by the Nevada Appeal indicated that one vehicle had three teenaged occupants, while the other was driven by an adult woman.

The reports said a 17-year-old boy had possible broken ribs, a 17-year-old girl was unconscious and a 16-year-old girl was complaining of chest pains. The woman also was initially believed to be injured. At least one person was trapped in a vehicle, according to the radio reports.

Dispatch records showed that one of the victims taken to the hospital was 16 years old and that the two people who were not taken to to the hospital declined medical treatment.

While the collision did not occur on a state road, Douglas County and the highway patrol have a cooperative agreement under which the NHP investigates all serious or fatal accidents in the county, a dispatcher said.
