Dave Cook, a professor of economics at Western Nevada Community College, was recognized as an outstanding faculty member by the University and Community College System of Nevada.
"It's very gratifying to be recognized for all the work you do in your discipline," Cook said. "It could have just been for my teaching in the classroom but I also served on the K through 12 Economic Standards Committee."
In the Outstanding Faculty, Employees and Students manual published by the UCCSN Board of Regents, it says:
"He (Dave Cook) is known among students for making the learning experience not only exciting but challenging as well.
"Many of the students who took his classes 10 years ago still consider him to be one of their favorite instructors."
Cook is also a member of the Nevada State Board of Education and is running for re-election this year.
