MINDEN - Former Douglas County sheriff's deputy Geoffrey J. Keogh has reimbursed the Wildhorse Homeowners Association more than $23,000 and will likely not see any jail time, a prosecutor said Thursday.
He will plead guilty in November to felony embezzlement.
Douglas County prosecutor Dina Salvucci does not anticipate her office will seek jail time for Keogh.
Keogh, 33, was the homeowners' association treasurer during the late 1990s. He served as a Douglas County sheriff's deputy from May 1995 until June 1998. He later worked for the Washoe Tribe and for the attorney general's office.
Since the charge was filed in April, Keogh was fired from his job as Pershing County undersheriff.
Keogh will appear for arraignment Nov. 19 in District Court before Judge Michael Gibbons.
Keogh waived his right to a preliminary hearing in justice court Wednesday in anticipation of the November guilty plea, Salvucci said.
Keogh paid about $23,650 in restitution prior to arranging a deal with the state, Salvucci said.
