Celebrity waiters raise $5,000 for Kids Korner

More than $5,000 was raised for the

Kids Korner charity last week at a

celebrity waiter event that marked the

grand opening of The Chophouse on

Virginia Street.

Among the local celebrities and politicians

who helped wait tables, pour wine,

sell raffle tickets and tend bar were Reno

Mayor Bob Cashell, City Manager

Charles McNeely,Washoe County

Sheriff, Dennis Balaam, Sparks Mayor

Tony Armstrong, RSCVA's Deanna

Ashby, City Council members Sharon

Zadra, David Aiazzi, and Toni Harsh,

KOLO-TV's Tad Dunbar, Northern

Nevada Business Weekly Publisher Pete

Copeland, Jet Propulsion Studios' Jet

Parker, 4D Strategies' Kristy DiGiovanni,

Paul Aboud and his wife Adele, former

owners of Adeles, KOH's Dave Preston

and members of the Reno

Redevelopment Board.

Much of the money will be going to

buying Christmas presents for downtown

area youngsters who otherwise wouldn't

get any.
