Obituary: Larry G. Holloway

A celebration of life for Larry G. Holloway, 52, a Carson City resident, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Brewery Arts Center Chapel, 449 W. King St.

Mr. Holloway died Dec. 23, 2002, in a San Francisco hospital of leukemia. He was born March 7, 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Douglas and Constance Holloway.

At the age of 5, he moved to South Dakota, where he attended high school and graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., with a bachelor's of arts degree in music education.

He taught school in South Dakota for eight years before moving to Carson City. He taught at Eagle Valley Middle School for several years until he became band director at Carson High School in 2000.

He was a charter member of the Carson City Symphony and very active in all communication functions involving music and the arts. He loved working with the Carson City Community Theater.

Among his survivors are his wife, Judy R. of Carson City; mother, Constance of Huron, S.D.; sons Bryan and Jon of Carson City; brother, Mark of Grand Prairie, Texas; sisters Diane Clayton of Huron, S.D., Gail Boddicker of Rapid City, S.D., and Donna Block of Temecula, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carson High Music Department, Brewery Arts Center or a favorite charity.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
