Obituary: Margaret J. Alexander

A memorial service for Margaret J. Alexander, 88, a Carson City resident, will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Alexander home, 1820 N. Winnie Lane.

Mrs. Alexander died Dec. 31, 2001, in Carson City. She was born April 30, 1913, in Bessemer, Mich., to Caroline Valerios and Reinhard Fisher.

She graduated from Hayward High School Class of 1926.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Sonoma, Walnut Creek, San Leandro and Oakland, Calif.

Mrs. Alexander had been Children's Hospital Guild president, Redwood Branch, PTA president Joaquin Miller Elementary School, a fashion model for Concourse d'Elegance, co-owner of Daco Metal Products, a member of the Oakland Yacht Club, a competitive bridge player and a Cub Scout den mother. She read to Alzheimer's patients and was a sponsor of Guide Dogs for the Blind.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don in 1973.

Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Brian D. and Sharon L. Alexander; daughter and son-in-law Dianne Dawn Alexander and Theodore Joseph Spinardi; grandchildren Don Michael Alexander, Edward S. Alexander, Theodore Joseph Spinardi II and Joanne Spinardi Leonard and great-grandchildren Katlyn Alexander, Lindsey Alexander, Rebecca Alexander Babbs, Luke Spinardi and Joshua Spinardi.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Hospice of Northern Nevada or Guide Dogs for the Blind.
