New appointees to planning commission, visitors bureau

Mark Kimbrough, Carson-Tahoe regional state parks manager, has been appointed to the Carson City Planning Commission.

Kimbrough, a nine-year Carson resident, replaces William Mally on the commission. Mally served for 12 and 1/2 years, and was recently complimented on his common sense approach to planning issues.

Kimbrough is a past chairman of the Carson River Advisory Board and is past president of the Tahoe Rim Trail Association. He said he's waited for a year for a position on the planning commission to come open for which he could apply.

"I like planning and I like being involved in the community," Kimbrough said. "People keep telling me about all the work that needs to be done to be on that committee, so I'm looking forward to it."

Roger Sedway, construction manager for Carson-Tahoe Hospital, also was appointed to his second, four-year term on the planning commission.

In other appointments, Joe McCarthy, executive director of the Brewery Arts Center, was appointed to a citizen-at-large position on the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau. McCarthy is also a citizen-at-large member of the Carson City Redevelopment Authority Citizen's Committee, a position he's held since April 1993.

"I enjoy public service," McCarthy said. "I think that my experience in the art and cultural arena would be a good mix with the current board."

Joe Di Lonardo was reappointed to a second term on the visitors bureau board in a business position, and Dwight Millard was reappointed to the board to the hotel/motel position, one he's held since 1992.
