Obituary: June Fitzpatrick

A memorial Mass for June Fitzpatrick, 75, a Carson City resident for the past 25 years, will be at 10 a.m. June 29, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick died May 23, 2002, after a long battle with ALS. She was born June 1, 1926, in Hollywood, Calif., to Thomas and Irene Fitzpatrick.

She worked as a civilian employee for the Navy at Port Hueneme, Calif., for several years and then transferred to the Nevada National Guard in Carson City where she worked until her retirement. After retirement, she worked for the Nevada State Legislature when in session. She loved her friends, dancing and the Hawaiian Islands.

She was preceded in death by her son James Smith.

Among her survivors are her daughter and fiance Sandra Cessna and Michael Nation of San Dimas, Calif.; sister Marian Howard of Winnemucca; brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Mary Fitzpatrick; grandchildren Jaime Drake of Santa Maria, Calif., Duane Cessna of Walker, Calif., Tammi Duran of Rowland heights, Calif., and Matthew Cessna of Covina, Calif.; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was at Oakdale Mortuary in Glendora, Calif. Her ashes will be scattered at a later date off the island of Oahu.
