120 YEARS AGO

On Sunday evening the Right Rev. Bishop Whittaker administered the apostolic rate of confirmation at the Episcopal Church to Mrs. Siddons, Mrs. Headrick and Misses Lizzie Murphy, Carrie Headrick, Jennie Sturdevant, Kate Hardie, Bell Goddard and Bertha Wagner. The choir was dressed in pure white. Misses Gates and Dorsey and Messrs. Mason and Edison also attended. Many were unable to gain admittance.

100 YEARS AGO

Norris & Rowe's big shows will be in Carson City April 24 under enormous tents opposite the railroad depot. Included are Fargo, Duke and Dutchess, the dwarf elephants. A grand, free street parade will be at 11 a.m. with 500 animals.

70 YEARS AGO

Charges of cruelty were emphatically denied in district court in the divorce of William H. Kennedy, a wealthy Canadian. He said his wife made critical statements about his bridge playing, and nagged him about money.

50 YEARS AGO

To explore the possibility of getting television into Carson City, John Ciceu, proprietor of Carson Radio-TV Service, has been testing signals in this area. Best reception in Carson is zero.

20 YEARS AGO

Maj. Gen. William Engel, Nevada's adjutant general, has been awarded the Army's Legion of Merit. He has directed the 2,500 men and women for three years.

10 YEARS AGO

Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas: Second Lt. Sharon M. Amayo, daughter of Kenneth C. Rader of Carson City, has received the Army Commendation Medal. She is a critical-care nurse.
