Longtime Carson City native and business owner Daryl C. Bath died Aug. 8, 2003, at the age of 88. He was born June 7, 1915, in Carson City, to Pearl and Ralph Bath. He lived his entire life in Carson City, graduating from Carson High School.
Mr. Bath's great-grandparents came to Carson City in 1858 from Bath, England, arriving in Carson City by covered wagon and building the Bath Ranch in the northwest section of town, a portion of which Mr. Bath still occupied. His maternal great-grandparents also arrived in Nevada by covered wagon, settling in Jacks Valley south of Carson in 1878.
Mr. Bath was the owner of the Shell Fuel Oil Co. in Carson City and the surrounding areas for many years and was recognized for his business integrity and success. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was an ardent fisherman on Lake Tahoe most of his life, building his own wooden speedboat.
Surviving Mr. Bath are his daughter, Jeri Kittredge; grandchildren Kevin Kittredge and Nicole Madden; brother-in-law Bud Hill and nieces.
According to his wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, you are asked to donate to a favorite charity.
There will be a gathering of friends and family at Mr. Bath's home on Winnie Lane, 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 10.
