BioEssentials, the Reno company that created the Motion Potion sports beverage, started a two-tier distribution system this summer Along with deals with traditional beverage distributors, the company launched its own distribution system into nontraditional locations such as health clubs, ski resorts and delicatessans.

A company-owned route in Reno opened 130 new accounts since midsummer, says President Michael Nelson.

Along with the new locations' ability to move product, they help build brand awareness that boosts sales at groceries and other high-volume outlets.

Pleased with the results in northern Nevada, Motion Potion launched a similar initiative covering much of northern California.
