Dean M. Hoffman, 88, a Yerington resident for the past 10 years, died Dec. 28, 2003, at South Lyon Medical Center.
He was born June 2, 1915, in Hornick, Iowa, to Ruben and Bonnie Kuhlman Hoffman.
Before moving to Yerington, he lived in Bridgeport, Calif., for 25 years and Bishop, Calif. Mr. Hoffman retired from the Dressler Ranch in 1985.
He loved the High Sierra, ranching, horses and open fields.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Vivian; and brothers Dale, Darrell and Don.
Among his survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Ron Sturgeon and grandson, Scott Edwards, all of Yerington; and many nieces and nephews.
At his request, no service will be held. His cremains will be buried in the Bridgeport Cemetery next to his wife.
Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
