Intelligence has been received here that the miners at the Albion Mine threatened to hang the superintendent, Colonel E.N. Robinson, if they do not receive the $90,000 due them, at once. The colonel has many friends in this city who trust the trouble may be satisfactorily adjusted.

100 YEARS AGO

Yesterday Con Ahern took a lease on the International Hotel covering a period of three years, and will take charge of the hotel on the first of February. Dining room and lodging will be brought up to first class shape and conducted as a first class hotel.

70 YEARS AGO

George W. Russell received the unanimous endorsement of the Assembly today in his candidacy for the post of Secretary of the Interior under President Roosevelt. Several representatives of the Nevada press were in Carson visiting the legislature. They included Vail Pittman of the Ely Times, R.C. Stitser of the Humboldt Star, E.M. Steninger of the Elko Free Press and Graham Sanford of the Reno Gazette.

50 YEARS AGO

Carson City will have a drive-in theater this summer, it was announced today by George Gessler and Cecil Perrin. It will accommodate 350 cars north of the city. Gessler had operated theaters in Oregon and runs Hunter's Lodge here.

20 YEARS AGO

Nancy Bowman, pictured, with escort Tom McGuire, was crowned 1983 Carson High School Homecoming Queen. Cagers defeated Fallon 68-46.

10 YEARS AGO

Silver City artist Karen Kreyeski will be featured Feb. 1-12 at the LXS Gallery, an exhibit space in the Nevada State Legislature building in Carson City, sponsored by the Nevada State Council on the Arts.
