Raymond Frank Mier

A memorial service for Raymond Frank Mier, 64, a Carson City resident for the past 23 years, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Mr. Mier died Jan. 30, 2003, at his home. He was born July 17, 1938, in San Fernando Valley, Calif., to Raymond and Carmen Mier.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Benton, Calif.

Mr. Mier was a horse trainer in Hollywood Park, Calif., before moving to Nevada. He was retired from Amerigas Corp. He was an avid car buff and enjoyed rebuilding cars for Hot August Nights auctions. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Goldfield.

He was preceded in death by his son Raymond Jr. in 1993.

Among his survivors are his wife of 34 years Pamela Sue; son Robert Sunman of Carson City and daughter Tracy Jackson of Reno; twin sister Ramona of Sammamish, Wash.; sisters Carmen Johnson of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Marie Curd of Carson City; and many grandchildren.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
