The organizations listed this week are three I need to brag about.
First, let's see E to begin with, the Lions Club. It not only helps with saving the sight of hundreds of people, but recently donated time to help with the Capital Classic Basketball Tournament, which netted the Carson Senators basketball team $2,500. I know head coach Bruce Barnes appreciates all the help in supporting our local boys.
Second is Chris Bayer at CASA. With his determination, we are lucky to have Saul Singer provide a three-day workshop on "state-of-the-art" case management for helping children and families succeed. Do not miss this opportunity: free training for those who work to help others.
Last, but definitely not least, is the Carson City Kiwanis. Last year, it provided $16,000 to Carson High School in academic scholarships. It is now working hard to provide a vocational scholarship to help students in high school receive an education in vocational training.
I want to commend and thank all of the service groups in our community for how much they provide in scholarships for students at Carson High.
Who: Carson City Lions' club annual crab feed
When: March 14. No-host cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing 8-11 p.m.
Where: Fuji Park pavilion
What: Come join the fun with the all-you-can-eat crab feed. The Lions Club has purchased over 900 pounds of crab, so bring your bibs. If you do not like crab, they have spaghetti. All dishes are served with salad and garlic bread. Red Ketel plays music to stomp your feet to.

Who: CASA of Carson City
When: March 19, 20 and 21, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Where: Nevada State Archives, 100 North Stewart St.
What: CASA of Carson City, the Nevada State Division of Child and Family Services in conjunction with the Nevada Training Partnership, University of Nevada, Reno, School for Social Work and Soroptimist International of Carson City present Saul Singer for a healthier Nevada. The three-day work shop covers all aspects of case management with an emphasis on technical assistance, intervention, clinical bases and training resources from public to private organizations.

Who: Kiwanis of Carson City
When: March 29, 6-11 p.m.
Where: Carson Nugget
What: Craig Fletcher and the Terriers will play music, but it will be the Bird of Paradise Hawaiian Dancers that will catch your eye. Bring comfortable shoes, in case the women show you a few moves. There will be silent auction items from various corners of the earth and raffle prizes.
Cost: Tickets are $40 per person, or find 10 friends and purchase a table for $380.
Proceeds benefit: Academic Scholarships to CHS students.
