Appeal Legislative Notes: Assembly Bill No. 137, which would restrict gamingby placing games 10 feet above the ground floor, lost 11 to 1. Nearly every man on the floor got up and explained his vote. The Senatorial ball on Tuesday night will be strictly a full-dress affair. Each senator can extend three invitations, the extreme limit.

100 YEARS AGO

Henry Fulstone, one of the best known residents of this city, died suddenly of heart failure at the home of his brother. The deceased leaves a wife and family and two brothers to mourn his loss. Through his energy, he built up a fine holding. He was about 50 years old and a native of England.

70 YEARS AGO

On the Carson-Reno highway: Injured when their car collided with a band of horses were Virginia City boys Raymond Nevin, who was driving; George Dick and Donald Drysdale. All three were brought to Carson by a passing motorist and treated by Dr. James Thom. The horse was killed and auto demolished.

50 YEARS AGO

Pat Martin, a 17-year-old Gardnerville girl, was entered by the Douglas County Fat and Purebred Livestock 4-H Club as their contestant as queen of the 1953 Grand National Livestock Exposition at San Francisco's Cow Palace.

20 YEARS AGO

John Nicosia, chairman of the Award of Harmony Committee of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, is searching for a local person to receive the award.

10 YEARS AGO

Kati Swisher, an eighth-grader at Eagle Valley Junior High School, has been named cheerleader of the year. Cited was her excellent attitude.
