Obituary: Herb Harbeson

A funeral for Herb Harbeson, 79, a Carson City resident for the past 31 years, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Harbeson died Feb. 22, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Prescott, Ariz.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and was a World War II veteran.

After his military service, he moved to San Francisco, where he worked for the Budweiser Distributing Co.

Mr. Harbeson moved to Carson City in 1961, where he owned and operated Capital Beverages until 1971. He was an avid golfer, a 50-year member of the Elks Club and a member of the Eagle Valley Golf Course. He was the Nevada Day parade announcer for the past 10 years

Among his survivors are his wife of 31 years, Doris of Carson City; daughter, Terry Lowry of Carson City; son, Bill Pearce of Reno; sister, Mary Lee

Aduddell of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren and four-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
